Oookic Productions came to life in 1995 on the eve of my grandmother’s death.
I was driving back to Chicago from being out West, racing to see her one last time. I was recalling my memory of her as the Kansas plains rolled by outside the window of my ’87 Ford Ranger, and I sensed I would never have a conversation with her again.
My grandmother was a great listener. I could tell her anything and she would lend me her attention–she was unflappable. She would ask a lot of questions, sometimes verbally and and sometimes just with her eyes. And when we finally reached a balance and she understood me, and I understood her, she would say, “Oh, oh, okay, I see.”
The feeling of being understood, and understanding another, is so profound. It’s like giving and receiving a gift each and ever time.
It is in the spirit of this magical connection between the storyteller and the audience that Oookic Productions was formed and I began to think more about the idea of Conversational Storytelling™
@MoviesandMedia is meant to be a place to study the communications of media, brands, and corporations and keep up a study of filmmaking and film language. Admittedly I have gotten sidetracked with Covid and Trump the past couple years, but onwards and upwards.
